DTI’s home town of Leipzig

September 26th, 2011

Greetings to the reading masses! After a quiet Summer, my first port of call was the Leipzig Fach-Dental, a 2-day regional exhibition, one of 7 throughout Germany during the post-Summer period. (The others are in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart and Munich. This is, of course, in addition to the International Dental Show, the IDS, held every 2 years in Cologne).

Leipzig is the home town of the DTI. So a couple of pictures are in order.

I did first call Torsten Oemus, hoping to spend some time with him and his lovely young family. But when I called, he was sleeping in Mexico (attending the FDI congress). Here’s a picture of him and me during the IDS earlier this year…

(We’re holding the special issue of ‘Den-Tales’ the newsletter of the DBU (Dental Buddies of the Universe – a special club for the international dental trade, of which I am the President…and floor sweeper).

Leipzig is a very beautiful city. Do not be like me: when you get there, give it time. I only saw the ‘new’ town hall tower in the dark…

And was scared by the alcohol test machine in the car park…

At the exhibition itself, I was happily surrounded by some of the DTI ladies, handing out the TODAY publication..

Next thing I saw was the very large area set up for the DTI-Study Club, normally an online educational world, but beautifully organised here in the exhibit hall..

There were also some dental products on show, but that’s not what you’re interested in, is it?
